Using LEGO

LEGO as a coding and programming tool

In this activity we wil demonstrate how coding and programming does not have to be constrained the the realm of the digital world. It is through the use of the widely acclaimed children's toy of LEGO that we will demonstrate the fundamental purpose of coding and programming. With the  assistance of an early stage 1 student as our participant, they will attempt to construct a simple LEGO dinosaur without the usual provision of parts lists and instructions. This activity will then progress to demonstrate how both parts lists and in particular the use of instructions, form the code that constructs the program for the construction of the LEGO dinosaur. This activity is a great way to immerse young students into the world of coding and programming.
