Coding and programming is apart of multimodality through the way it can be both a physical (See Lego Lesson) activity while also being central to online use. Coding and programming is used when using websites to ensure that they run smoothly and are accessable for the user.

As seen in Aaron Sorkins "The Social Network" coders and programmers created "Facebook" the most successful online community of all time. These people learnt coding and programming skills while in school and Mark Zuckerburg is now the youngest BILLIONAIRE in the world as a result. Without coding and programming online media would not be where it is today.

Codes and programs make games, apps like "Codea" or "GamePress" (Both featured on the Resources page) are created for children to learn how to create games through coding which they are actually able to play. This enables students to develop a deep understanding of how games are created through codes and programs while still playing games within a classroom as demonstrated through the Hour of Code activity.

Popular Culture is used to teach coding and programming (See Hour of Code Lesson) enabling young students to become engaged in the idea of coding and programming. As a result of popular culture contrubuting to the engagement of young people in coding and programming, codind and programming contributes to popular culture through students creating the newest App obbession or next "Facebook"
